The second part of our field trip was making butter and ice cream and learning about cows.
We measured the ingredients for the butter

and shook it until it was ready to eat!
Then it was time to make ice cream!!!!
Back to the measuring......

we had to shake it.....

and shake it........
and shake it some more!

We did get a taste of the homemade ice cream and it was delicious, but we didn't have time to make enough for everyone so the Achenbach's were kind enough to bring some in for us.

It was DELICIOUS!

Before we left we got to pass around some kittens!

The kids loved them!
It was a fantastic day at BAK!

Field Trip or not we had a Fantastic Day!!!
We started out or morning with some visitors.....

First we talked about what an Alpaca was and where they came from,

Then we headed outside to see them.

We petted them and

fed them some grain.

The Knutson's did a great job of answering questions and talking about how they take care of their alpacas.

It was so great that the farm could come to us!

Your child will also be bringing home a rose or butterfly made from alpaca hair!
For our last RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) presentation, Mr. Douglas came and shared a little of the past.

He read a story about the fur trade and talked about how important canoeing was in the past.

He shared a fur with us....

and talked about some of the clothes they wore while canoeing.
